Your Hosts
Ben And Sarah.
We own two places on the same stretch of Seneca Lake shoreline, both reached down the same bluff: the big house, and the cottage below it. We bought the cottage some time after the house, having worked out that a good many weekends do not want a big house at all. They want a queen bed, a quiet dock, and a dog permitted on the deck.
We run both ourselves. When you write, one of us answers — usually Sarah, usually within the hour. If something breaks we would infinitely rather hear it from you on the Saturday than read it in a review on the Tuesday, and we do not charge for the ordinary wear that comes of people actually using a place.
We are not a management company. There is no front desk and no portal. What there is is a cottage we know well enough to tell you, without flattering either of us, whether it is the right one for your weekend.
How We Host.
We would rather you booked the right place
If the stairs are a problem, or the party is larger than four, we will tell you before you book rather than after. We would sooner lose the booking than earn the review.
We lead with the drawbacks
The stairs, the absent dishwasher, the window unit rather than central air. All of it is on this site because you would discover it anyway, and the Friday of your holiday is the wrong moment.
We answer our own messages
No portal and no ticket number. A telephone, and two people who own the place.
We leave what you would otherwise buy
Linen, towels, beach towels, coffee, firewood, and the oil and salt nobody wishes to purchase for a two-night stay.
